Video Watch the video.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German clergyman and theologian who plotted to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

The video at the right is a brief introduction (8 minutes long) to Bonhoeffer’s life, from birth to theological formation to the plots to kill Hitler that resulted in Bonhoeffer’s own execution.

The clip is taken from Heroes of Conscience: A Tribute to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a production of Trinity Television & New Media narrated by Bill Moyers.

The View From the Underside the Last Hours of Bonhoeffer

On March 5, 12, 19 and 26th at 11:15 am, Bonhoeffer’s witness will be explored with the clergy of St. Paul’s Chapel assisted by the Reverend Winfield Peacock of John Heuss House. This will culminate with the one-man play, A View from the Underside: the Last Hours of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, by Al Staggs at 1 PM on Sunday April 2, at St. Paul’s.

The play focuses on Bonhoffer’s final moments as he struggles with evil, injustice, and God. Hear of the profound influence of Frank Fisher, an African-American friend who revealed to Dietrich the disgrace of racism. Experience Bonhoeffer’s fury against the Nazis and his participation in the German resistance movement.
