Text Reads: St. Paul’s was built in 1766 as part of the Episcopal Parish of Trinity Church and was George Washington’s church in NYC. Located directly across form the World Trade Center site, the Chapel has survived-untouched- both the Great Fire of 1776 and the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001. It is the city’s oldest public building in continuous use. In the wake of 9-11, the church housed an extraordinary eight-month volunteer relief effort that brought together thousands of people of every race & religion to care for rescue workers and victims’ families at Ground Zero.
